Friday, Saturday, and Today......sorry :)

Well I am not very good at this maybe next time I will simplify in another way. Let's start with Friday. I ate unpackaged food and was good with all of that. My walk? I did not go on an exact walk except for walking with people down to the cows and back but at least I was able to go see the boys win their game that night! So hopefully school spirit will make up for that. Emerson and Thoreau's themes, in context of the times, meant that material progress is unnecessary to live happily. Through their writings they both proved this. Most obviously in Walden Thoreau showed how the simplistic way he lived was enough for anyone to live like.

On Saturday I was able to finally take a walk with Beef, my dog. It was really nice and relaxing even though I was really tired. Even though I see them all the time I loved accidently walking up on a rabbit. When it saw me it got scared and scurried under all the branches that used to be full green bushes and the dog freaked out a little bit but it was safe from Beef. I did a round-a-bout on the field and got to the edge of the road and was able to see my neighbor's horses running around blowing out steam into the cold air and saw my neighbors putting up christmas lights and I said hello and went back home and it was a successful walk. Technology clutters our lives because with all the stuff that is going on around we find the need to always be on it and people find the need to have to get the next new thing and it is very overwhelming at times. Technology simplifies our lives at the same time because connections to our friends and all the answers in the world are at our fingertips or our ears and it expands our lives so much. I for one find it sad sometimes to see how much people are relying on technology and turning their backs on nature and other things but that is my opinion.

Today I ate good again and I went on a walk in a different field from what I normally do. All of the cows raced to the edge of the fence and watched me the whole time when I went by the first time and as I went back even more had congregated around to watch me walk. I didn't think it was that interesting but they always are nosy and curious. I feel like this weekend was not that cold and I missed the extra cold on Friday so I feel lucky. After reading Emerson and Thoreau my perspective on life has not exactly changed but it makes me think more. I have always agreed with what they say but what does that do if I don't act more on it? I completely agree with the importance of being yourself and being with nature so nothing really changed but it makes me think about that a little bit more and what I could do.
